League Rules
2014 Official League Rules
1. You can challenge League members on any game from Gen IV onwards. However, not all Trainers have a game from every generation! Most League members will have a game from Generation V, so make sure to at least have those games!
--Gen IV = Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, SoulSilver
--Gen V = Black, White, Black 2, White 2
--Gen VI = X, Y
2. When you beat a Gym Leader, you gain their badge. Though we have more than eight Gyms, you only need eight badges in order to take the Elite Four challenge!
--For in-person battles, a physical badge in the form of a pin or card is given.
--For Wi-Fi battles, winners are traded Pokemon with the name of the badge and the Gym Leader's OT number.
3. In the case of a draw via mutual knock-out by a move, the user of the move that knocked out both Pokémon (such as Explosion or Destiny Bond), will be considered the loser.
--In mutual knockouts due to abilities or held items (such as Life Orb or Rough Skin), the first Pokemon to faint is considered the loser.
4. In any battle that does not automatically reduce levels, all Pokémon must be at or below level 75. This only applies to certain battle types:
--In Generation IV, there is no auto-levelling. All Pokémon are capped at level 75.
--In Generation V, only in-person battles can be auto-levelled. Battles using Wi-Fi must use Pokémon capped at level 75.
--In Generation VI, all battles can use auto-levelling. No level restriction!
5. The following are banned for both Trainers and League members
--Wonder Launcher (Gen V games only)
--Legendary Pokémon (see list below)
--Glitch or hacked Pokémon
--Pokémon obtained or modified in any way through outside means (such as Pokésav)
--Pokémon with Hidden Abilities not officially released
Elite Four Challenge
1. To take the Elite Four Challenge, present eight badges to a member of the Elite Four or the Dictator, and you will be provided with a registration slip to register your team.
2. The Elite Four can be faced in any order, but you cannot lose even once, and you must use the same team for every battle. Otherwise, you must start the challenge over.
--The following must remain constant for your team throughout the Elite Four challenge: Your specific Pokemon, their movesets, their held items, and their abilities. Basically, no changes whatsoever between battles.
3. When you beat all the Elite Four members, you must then face the League Champion, still using the same team. If you lose, you must restart the entire challenge. If you win, you will be offered the position of League Champion!
--You may decline the position, in which case, the current Champion will keep it.
--If there is no current Champion when you defeat the Elite Four, you are automatically offered the position.

Re: League Rules
Is there a clause regarding moves? Such as not having more than a certain number of Pokemon sharing a move on your team?

Re: League Rules
What about what type of battle it is. Like 2 -n-2 or 3-on-3? Is that up to the gym leader or is everything just 1-on-1?

Last year the Champ decreed that his battle had to be a 3-on-3 battle. I would think we would need to all have the same system, its not exactly fair to a trainer to have to have a team build for 1-0n-1 to only have someone shoot it down because they have a perfect 2-on-2 or 3-on-3 team. (You know, someone using a Poliwrath with Water Absorb and a Vaporion using surf all the time)

Re: League Rules
It is up to the Leader. An overwhelming majority will be Single Battle, but I know of at least one Gym Leader who will be doing Triple Battles. Be prepared for anything! As the Trainer, you can of course, always ask for something different, but you may not get what you ask for!
For example, last year, someone asked for a match between two lone Pokemon. I thought it was interesting, so I agreed.

Re: League Rules
I'm wanting to start a dragon-type gym as I have noticed that there is yet to be one. However, I wanted to know what extent the no-hacked-pokemon rule went first. Y'see, I have this shiny flygon that I want to use in my party. However, the reason she's shiny is because an acquaintance of mine synthesized her for me as a trapinch with his Action Replay. She has no enhanced stats, no irregular abilities. The only thing different about her is that she's shiny. What I wanna know is if I can get away with using her or if I would have to use another flygon?

Re: League Rules
We already have someone applying to be the Dragon gym. You can challenge him if you want, but if he doesn't want to accept the challenge, he gets first dibs at being the Dragon gym, and you would be free to join his Gym as a member.
Also, even with perfectly normal stats, hacked Pokemon are strictly off limits, so you can't use that shiny Flygon.

Meh, no big loss, I have some trapinch eggs waiting to be hatched anyway. Anyway, who is this other person wanting to establish a dragon gym?
